About SamI never wanted to be a therapist. I never even wanted to go back to graduate school. Through my work in the foster care system in my early 20s, I discovered a need for mental health advocates in schools. I graduated with my Master's in Social Work and loved working as a school social worker until the COVID-19 pandemic brought everything to a screeching halt. At that time, I felt scared, my days were unstructured, and I was missing my students and staff. A colleague suggested I join her therapy practice and take on a few clients just so I could keep my skills fresh. It was there that I found my true, albeit unexpected, calling.
The unexpected nature of my newfound calling was uncomfortable, but I have always believed that true personal growth happens on the verge of discomfort and I made the active choice to lean in. It is my honor and privilege to walk alongside my clients as they navigate the highs and lows that life brings. Together, we will laugh, cry, commiserate, and celebrate the challenges and achievements you encounter every day. In my free time, I can usually be found camping with my family, watching reality tv shows, or tending to the plants in my greenhouse. I also enjoy practicing yoga and working on our many house projects. My dog, Captain, often makes himself known during my telehealth sessions. |
